Veterinary Surgeon

Hans was born Dutch, raised in South Africa and married an English wife. He qualified as a veterinarian in South Africa in 1986, spent 4 years in small animal private practice before joining the Medical University of South Africa as a resident to pursue his interest in surgery. He obtained a MMEDVET degree in small animal surgery, which allowed him to qualify as a specialist surgeon in SA.

He has been working as a specialist small animal surgeon for his entire career, either in private practice, or as a lecturer and clinician at universities. In 2019, he decided to emigrate to the UK. His hobbies include carpentry, gardening and birding. His hobbies reflect the same passions that he has have for his work, namely building or rebuilding structures (orthopaedics) and nurturing the roots (soft tissues).

Although he misses his Rottweiler who had to be rehomed, he has four cats that complete his family.
