Surgery:
Hans van der Zee MRCVS
Hans is our main surgeon. He completed a surgical residency at the Medical University of South Africa, before working as a specialist surgeon there. He has a wealth of experience, including private practice and university lecturing. He regularly carries out advanced orthopaedic surgeries, including spinal surgeries and total hip replacements, as well as soft tissue surgery.
Medicine and laparoscopic surgery:
Katherine Gist MA VetMB GPCertDI PgCSADI
Katherine is the lead vet at the Epping hospital and oversees external referrals. She has a postgraduate certificate in diagnostic imaging and is working towards an advanced certificate in CT. She spends most of her time performing ultrasound and CT scans and echocardiograms, as well as looking after the hospital inpatients. Katherine has completed further training in laparoscopy and regularly carries out abdominal organ biopsies with this technique.
Exotics and acupuncture:
Kat Rhodes BVetMed MRCVS
Kat has a special interest in small mammals and exotics and accepts referrals for a wide range of species, including zoo animals. She also has a decade of experience in veterinary acupuncture for the treatment of chronic pain. Kat is split between our Epping hospital and the Harlow branch.
